Making the Hard Choices When We Know They're the Right Choices

We are each going to have moments in life that will require us to act.

The action that these circumstances demand will be inconvenient, uncomfortable, and often rubs against the grain.

The inherent discomfort that we experience, and how we position ourselves or respond in relation to this discomfort, is what makes these moments pivotal.

Memories that we carry, regardless of whether we feel we made the right choice or otherwise.

The experiences that shove you in the spotlight and subject you to criticism and scrutiny.

These are the moments that serve to shape us if we seize them.

We can choose to act with courage, rather than shrivel back in fear.

The Choice is Yours to Make

While many allow themselves to be governed by the norms that society dictates, we are still made up of so much more. Our core values, a by-product of insights that our lived experiences teach us, often lend the alternate and integrated point of view.

The moments that create resistance… when you know you should be speaking up, but all your conditioning demands for your silence. When you know that you should be standing out, and ignore the call of conformity and compliance.

Silence can be deafening.

It can be our own silence that haunts us, as it haunts those who needed to leverage the power of your voice.

These are the kinds of successes and failures that shape us.

The decisions made from valuing inner alignment, or the decisions made that caused you to comply, that fulfilled that desire to conform.

Many struggling to find that inner acceptance, because it’s difficult to embrace your individuality when you’re still buried behind common sets of norms.

But there will be that moment, and it will be your call to action. Not comfortable or convenient, but it will demand from you a choice. To speak up or to stay silent, to hold the line, or use your voice.

Make the hard choice, if you feel it's the right choice.

There is a sense of feeling grounded and inner alignment, even when disruption looms ahead. When you stood for what you believed in, when you spoke the truth and bore the cost. And while the truth itself is costly, it can rip your life apart. It’s still that one-way ticket to freedom, while doors may close, it still offers a fresh new start.

I spoke my truth, and it has cost more than what I thought I could bear.

I bore the weight, withstood the fire, and the peace of mind is beyond comparison.

And I belief that life’s a privilege regardless of the hardships faced.

The moment came, the moment’s passing, and I can say with confidence and conviction:  use your voice when life demands it, do what you think you should.

In the end we all face the music, and better to feel peace than regret that you didn’t do all that you could.

Make the hard choice, if you feel it's the right choice.
